Olympic Village Neighborhood – Vancouver Travel Guide

One of the most scenic neighborhoods in Vancouver is Olympic Village! It’s close to attractions like Science World, BC Place, and Yaletown while also being walking distance to trendy restaurants and bars in Mount Pleasant. Here’s a quick guide on visiting Olympic Village especially if you’re here for the FIFA World Cup! You should plan to spend 1-2 hours walking around before grabbing a bite in the area.

How to get to Olympic Village

If you’re taking public transportation, both the Canada Line and Expo Line have easy access to Olympic Village.

  • Canada Line: Exit at Olympic Village station and walk east on West 2nd avenue. Turn left on Columbia Street until you hit the water.
  • Expo Line: Exit at Main Street- Science World station and walk on Terminal Avenue towards the water.
  • Uber: Get dropped off at Olympic Village Square for a central location
  • Parking: There’s paid street parking throughout

Things to See in

My main recommendation is to walk the seawall from Science World (east end of the neighborhood) to Cambie Bridge (west end of the neighborhood). If you still have energy afterwards, you can either walk across the Cambie Bridge or continue west towards Granville Island. The seawall basically links all the west towards Kitsilano.

It is quite a new neighborhood with mostly concrete high rises. But the main drawing point of this area is definitely the water views.

In terms of attractions, you can visit Science World especially if you have kids. Another popular activity is to take the Aqua Bus across the inlet for a short and affordable cruise around False Creek!

Best Restaurants in Olympic Village

There’s no shortage of restaurants in the area. Here are my favorites:

  • Nook: A classic go to spot in Vancouver for Italian food. Cozy and delicious pastas and pizzas are waiting for you
  • Tap & Barrel: The food is average fast casual fare but they have the best patio in Olympic Village and a cheap happy hour too!
  • Ophelia: An upscale Mexican restaurant. The flavors are really good and they serve brunch too
  • Casa Molina: Trendy Spanish restaurant, you’ll need a reso for dinner here!
